I have to commend mintproducts.com

A couple weeks ago, I emailed them asking if they would change their listing of late date large cents so that at least one other condition grade is available other than "fine".

They now have 5 different grades available, and get this - they're all on sale!!

And there's a bunch of other stuff on sale too.

This is a perfect website for those of us who cannot very well grade coins by pictures. I have purchased several coins on ebay where the seller described the coin as "vf" or whatever only to post images here in the grading forum and find out the coin was "cleaned", "recolored", whatever...

Mintproducts apparently will not do this to you. Every coin I've ever ordered from them has been spot on as described or better. They seem to have the best prices. Silver eagles are about $3 over spot and there's no minimum order. Shipping is very cheap.

If anyone is out there reading who is new to numismatics, this is a site I've come to rely on to not overcharge, or upsell, or do anything else annoying.

That is quite a referral you are giving them. I will certainly check them out. Thanks for the post.
Rest in Peace

I appreciate the referral but after visiting, I'm concerned that all the slabs are ICG. Seems all ICG coins are getting grades that are too high and that makes them hard to sell -- if you ever have to do that.

Buddy, what page or type of coins are you looking at?

I just browsed through and, all I see are NGC and PCGS slabs. No ICGs.

You're right and thanks for pointing that out. I went straight to California gold - all ICG - then I left. I should have looked around a bit more.

I forgot to add also that if you do a free registration for a mintproducts account before you buy something, you'll get points that can be used as money for your next purchase.

But it only works if you do the free registration first. You can buy from them without signing up, but then you won't get any points.

I've spent $135 or something like that, and have about $3 credit so far towards a future purchase. So, at that rate, I guess spending $900 or so gets you a free vg-xf Peace dollar, or silver eagle, or whatever.

Ah, points, the S&H Green Stamps of the electronic age.

Thanks for letting me know. I made a note of the site. I might just do a bit of shopping for myself in a month or so. With all the fake slabs out there it's good to know that there is a reliable dealer out there.

So far I've only been able to trust friends that I've made here, at my coin club, and Northern Illinois Coin and Stamp -- which has a decent site. But mostly they have a store just four blocks from my house.
