I see some added thickness on the reverse of this Lincoln and not on the obverse. I know that we had some inconsistencies when we started the Zincolns in 82' but wasn't sure if this would be something similar or possibly a doubling of sorts. Zincolns have always given me problems haha! I included another 2000 D for comparison

A closer show of the lower area below the base of the Memorial would help. But I think you have linear plating problem under the plating (AKA gas bubbles). In the early 80's these were very common and not a good thing to get on a variety. They distract the eye and I know it is something for me not to buy when I see them. But later on they got better about the problem which was a rinse issue with the zinc. But every now and then they still appear. The line from the left roof looks like one, but on the right roof and cornice, I don't know what is going on there?m If maybe coin contact if it is incuse on the field. They get interesting to see when they fall over the devices, but not worth anything extra. IMOHO

Here is a link to a thread I started when I wasn't sure what was going on with my 1983 LMC. With the help from other members here it was identified as gas bubbles (zinc zits) similar to yours.

Hey thank you both! It will be good to learn about the zincolns. So far, they have been difficult on more than one occasion.

The shield cents are more boring to me. But until you learn what to look for, they all look the same.
