That doesn't even look like it was cast from an original!

And this isn't the only one. I just saw a group of 3 trying to be sold for $9.99

Does someone actually think "Could it be...I found the 16th 1804 dollar?! " This time, I don't feel sorry for the bidders--this looks like a knockoff sold in curio shops 30 years ago.

It looks like the dies were made with a dremel tool.

I have an 1802 from the same counterfeit series uncatalogued in my stacks. Same face.
So yeah... I second CoinCollector2000's sentiment most emphatically. :-)

Bidders know it's fake. There are only less than three hours to end the auction and the highest bid is $ 15.51.

"Bidders know it's fake" Yeah...I guess? And yet, bids are at 10X the value.

Not only a fake, but a very poor example of one at that! Just curious, isn't the seller supposed to list it as fake or counterfeit in their description?

I like how the ebay "genius" posted it in the large cents flowing hair (1793-1796) category.

Only if he wants to greatly increase the chances that ebay will pull the auction. ebay rules forbid fake coins but they tend to turn a blind eye to a lot of them being sold as real. But LIST it as a fake and you are rubbing their nose in it and they are much more likely to enforce their rule. This can be a problem for listing some pieces which are widely collected counterfeits such as the bogus busties, and contemporary counterfeit British half pence etc.
