First, thanks for looking. I'd love to hear what everyone thinks of a grade for this 1950-S Lincoln. The reverse has some oddities in the letter 'O' in one and also near the bottom lettering in America. Any insights as to thoughts on that and the grade is greatly appreciated!

Thanks Matteproof... I thought it was a little strange in this condition but I'm assuming this is not so unusual?

The dings on Lincolns eyebrow is somewhat distracting, and with the grease filled letters on the reverse and a few scratches, I'll say, MS-62
Still a very nice coin.

64RD

As I've discussed many time here, the weakness in the O in ONE and the AM in AMERICA are not due to grease or damage. Those areas are hard for the die to fill in due to the amount of metal required to fill the obverse die opposite those areas. It's a classic trait for wheat cents. Also, the scratches around those areas are inherent to the planchet, as the striking pressure is not high enough to remove those.

This should help.

Notice the amount of metal to fill the high points in the design: temple, cheek, jaw and shoulder. That's what causes the reverse to look like it does.

MS-63 red. Too many bag marks to make 65. The weak reverse is not uncommon.

MS64 RD. Thanks Bad Thad for picture of OBV and REV superimposed, very easy to understand with that.
