Gentlemen, No need to fight! lol I assume this confirms my belief that this was a real find! I offered it to coppercoins for his new book this morning but seeing it in CoinWorld would be nice too! surely something can be worked out? What do you think? Ziggy

I'm not even into Lincoln cents and I must say that when I see Chuck and Bill get excited about something as much as this, it gets me excited as well. What a great story and a great find. Out of curiosity, and after looking at the 1983 referenced on coppercoins.com, where does this fit into that picture for rarity?

This is a very unique find and Lincoln collectors are going to go NUTZ over it. I cannot wait to see it posted on coppercoins. Way to go Richard!!

Tights - At present, the 1982DDR is UNIQUE. Only that piece has ever been reported in any way. I have checked all references and it simply doesn't exist in print or on the web. That's about to change. I hesitate to jump out and toss value onto something like this without having seen the piece in person, but I venture to guess these will PROBABLY be as scarce as the 1969S DDO, yet its value will always be hampered by the fact that the doubling is on the reverse. I would think, however, if this piece is AU and were to be offered to the right bidders, a price tag of over $1000 would be possible.

I did find one reference from 1990 about doubled dies that states, "...the 1983 double(d) die reverse is quite scarce and very valuable. Similar doubling has been reported on 1982 cents." - source CoinAge magazine, unknown 1990 issue. Funny...a 1982 DDR has never been listed by the CherryPickers' Guide, CONECA, or myself at coppercoins.com. So where are these "known" pieces?

Excerpt from: How to turn a Penny into a $100 by ptcoins at ebay Guides http://reviews.ebay.com/How-to-turn...000001575610"Doubled-Dies alone are endless. Searching circulated rolls, I've found and sold numerous 1995 DDO's, 1972 DDO's, and 1964 DDR's. There are also nice doubled-dies to be found on 1980-P, 1982-P, and 1984-D, it's true becuase I've found and sold them!" Hmmmm!! Very Interesting. Reardon
