Ziggy,
That is GREAT!! I wish my wife didn't think I was crazy and call me "Penny Boy" even after I remind her it should be "Cent boy"

Maybe you should make her sit down and read this thread! A 200,000% increase is nothing to make fun of! Thanks Richard

Quote: Richard or anyone, Is this a small date or a large date 82 copper? From coppercoins site it seems to be a small date zinc coin

Yes, small date zinc, Philly mint, which makes it all that much more special. That happens to be the scarcest of the seven 1982 varieties...like this monster needed any help being rare and valuable, this certainly raises the bar.

Just wanted to say congratulations on your find Ziggy! But more importantly, I'd like to say thank you, for giving all of us the inspiration to keep on roll-hunting, because maybe we'll hit the next jackpot!

James Wiles of CONECA has replied. The coin is listed in the CONECA files as DDR-001, 1-R-IV, stage B, EMDS. J.T. Stanton of the CherryPickers' Guide has replied. The coin is listed in the FS system as 1982-01-801. John Wexler has not yet replied. Billy Crawford has not yet replied. I have an article ready for publishing that will be sent to Numismatic News when Bill gets his article off to Coin World. This will also be published in: Society of Lincoln Cent Collectors, Lincoln Cent Quarterly - October, 2007. Errorscope (CONECA publication) - date unknown. Coppercoins.com, as a web article.

John Wexler has replied - will be listed as WDDR-001 in his files. Billy Crawford has replied - will be listed as CDDR-001 in his files. I have talked with Dave Harper, editor of Numismatic News. He now has the story and images and will try to get it in this Thursday's press run. BTW, the story does mention that the coin was first reported here on CCF.

Richard, You are not going to sell are you? I would weight the risk VS reward on holding out. Risk would be everybody and their brother are going to be searching rolls for these (I just picked up 4 OBW SDZ for $29.99 shipped from a friend of mine) and if thousands start showing up the price drops. The reward would be no one finds one months from now and more people will know about it and want it for their collection and pay a lot more than what is on the table. You have .01 invested. To bad it was not the obverse, it would be like the 1958 DDO where I think there is only 2-3 of those. I will stop rambling, you probably already have thought of this stuff but I just wanted to get my 2 cents in.
