I have been searching through some old rolls of 5 cent coins.

I have come across a few of these in a couple of rolls. Note that the beads start to connect near the bottom of the obverse and then disappear into the rim. In some cases the beads are just connected and are off the rim as you would expect. I am wondering if this is a known variety. I haven't seen any reference to it. Die Deterioration?

I've noticed this on nickels of other dates and pennies, too.
