I was wondering, do they remove any IHCs or steel cents? I've searched through maybe 500+ rolls and never found any... Report this Post to the Staff

Rackster Pillar of the Community United States 4809 Posts	Posted 12/16/2014 9:34 pm I'm not sure if any of the coin services sort for anything. I've found IHCs searching rolls, but it's a rare event. I think that the few I've found were a mix of customer rolled and service rolled cents. Steel pennies might be gleaned out via a magnet, but otherwise, I've heard folks finding them. I couldn't say if they found them in customer wrapped coin though. Report this Post to the Staff

Bertensgrad Pillar of the Community United States 1192 Posts	Posted 12/16/2014 9:42 pm They are just super rare in circulation. I found one in probally $500 in cents looking through brink boxes. It would be really unprofitable for a company to sort them out. The only one I found was worth about a dollar. Report this Post to the Staff

As for steel cents, I've only found one. And that was in a bag of pennies that I got from an elderly gentlemen who had saved $16.50 face from the 80's. Report this Post to the Staff
biokemist6 Bedrock of the Community United States 12437 Posts	Posted 12/17/2014 02:05 am Steel cents would generally be screened out via magnets, like many other foreign coins with a steel planchet. Cupronickel IHCs could possibly be screened out since they are thicker and heavier than the 1864-1982 bronze cents. Report this Post to the Staff

Coin rolling companies do not own the coin to be able to remove any. I see no reason of financial gain for them to pull any coin from the process. They are very profitable in what they do to start with. When I listen to LED ZEPPELIN...so do my neighbors...
