The coins you see the odd time in the plastic cubes, are they usually ones minted for circulation? I appreciate any input. Thanks.

I've heard that as well and apparently trying to take the coins out damages each one no matter how careful you are, I do collect them but don't pay much for them. Thanks Ag for your reply. Tell your LCD maybe we can make a deal lol, cheers.

Are the coins in question, thoseg made into paperweight or pen holders? Some I see on ebay look very nice, especially the ones using the 1967 coins. I always wondered if removing the coins did cause damage? It seems making desk sets with coins was very popular at one time. Just pondering what people from that era would think, if they know how much silver coins were selling for today or in 2012? Interesting how the common can become valuable when enough people take notice. I wonder what common item will become valuable or desired in 35 years time?

yes they are neat looking, I asked around a few years back and talked to a guy that tried removing them from the block he said he had no success without damage to them. I see on the bay they are pretty well 40 and 50 bucks for a block, so it makes no sense to labour on a block vs buyin a set in thin plastic lol

Anyone that has these cubes with ADVERTISING on them ( banks ,trust companies, Prize awards ). I am very interested. I have a collection of these paper weights going back 35 years or so. Neatest Items so far an encased Peace dollar in bakelite from the late 1940's, two Kennedy halves in traditional Black (mourning) from a Pennsylvania Trust company and over a hundred Canadian sets and singles. One of my favourites a "Pearson Bus Sales of Tilbury ON" with the silver 10 and 25 cents with a nickel and penny and built in hour glass. I guess not really coin collecting...............blocked slab collecting! !!

I guess that makes two of us PC, I collect them as well, picked up a couple yesterday and have 3 others waitin on getting. They are pretty cool, I don't have any with company logo as of yet. There is one for sale on kijiji that Rambler put together and gave away I believe in the 50 or 60's. I think he's asking around 80.
