The profile of Lincoln's face appears to be doubled. Can anyone give me some insight as to what type of error this is, and whether or not a coin like this is of any value? I can't seem to find any information on this one. Thanks!

Image too small to confirm the potential DDO.

to CCF. Pic is small but it is common for wheat cents to have doubling on the face of Lincoln and adds no value.

Most of the time the doubling on the outside profile of the bust is just machine damage. There is an example I did find where the doubling is a doubled die. But note in the image. You can see the doubling is rounded and not flat:

Note on the cent image on the last side by side. It is flat shelf like doubling like your coin. So yours is the machine damaged examples that are not a doubled die.

Added a new image to my library of machine damage how it affects the bust.

Great explanations, coop. They are especially helpful when you post side by side images! Thanks.

Well is was a long time coming to get the right coin's images to show what I've been saying all along. I'm still looking for some better images of the Machine Doubling. I used John1's image, but the format was not working with my photoshop program. So I had to take an image from the screen with a camera. Still looking for a nice clear shot with a JPG image to redo the side by side image. Maybe John1 can re-format his image?

Wow Thank you for all of the detailed explanations. I would like to show you a better image of the coin. Please, if you can, explain how I can upload a better image without exceeding the limits of this forum. My initial image was too large and I had to crop it down.

I didn't even notice you used my coin
How would I re-format it? I don't remember which one it was,
