Well my forum friends I just wanted to let you in on 2 big hoards that haven't been made public yet, my source for this is my LCS who have actually talked to the owners and appraisers of these coins. I do not know any more info than what you will read in the following but will try to gather more info and keep you updated as I discuss it with my lcs. Hoard N.1 There was a collector born in the 1800s, he would go to the bank every year and get many, many coins the year of their issue. I do not know at this time exact numbers, years or denominations but I do know that he baught from the bank rolls upon rolls of coins straight from the presses up until the 1920s. The only example I have from this hoard is hundreds of 1884 dimes wrapped in paper in original bu condition. The appraisal of this hoard was $1 million+ and will be hitting the auction block next year with Moore's. Hoard N.2 was a man with many bu-gem bags of coins including but not limited to a bag of original bu 1858 cents, bags of original bu-gem silver dollar bags from 1935, 1937, 1938 and more. I know that there were many 1935 dollars already certified by ICCS from this hoard including many ms65s,ms66s and one ms 67 which to quote my LCS owner had "field like plate glass". I'm predicting some heavy price drops within the next couple of years so you may want to keep your money til then Feel free to call me Will.

Unless the price crashes, 100s of 1884 mere MS-60 would trend over $1,000,000.

Sounds very much like the Landon Hoard, with upcoming auction in February, I'm already saving my money!! I knew about the hoard of large cents. However, I didn't know about the other silver coins. I'd love to see some ms65 silver dollars or fifty cent pieces. I doubt Mr Landon lived to where the 1935 dollars were minted. The fifty cent pieces would be interesting and possible the quarters. The man was a prominent Winnipeg carpenter and business owner. Thanks Dollarman for your post and do update the info!!
I hope you regain your health prior to Christmas and have a truly wonderful day filled with many blessings and coins!!
Maybe the mods could add these posts to the Landon hoard thread, so all info is under one topic!

It should be interesting and depending where the auction is I should be lurking and possibly buying a cheap coin or 2 to say I have one. Thanks for the good wishes, you've truely made my day.

Minor update that I forgot to mention: the second hoard is being sold out slowly by the owner, the ms67 has already traded hands with someone.

There are more than a few MS 67 ICCS graded 1935 dollars out there already. The Landon hoard will NOT have hundreds of 1884 dimes in it . The hoard is for the most part high grade Large cents and five cents silver up to 1914 . There is however going to be a very spectacular 1893 round top 3 in the mix. Can hardly wait to see what is in Chucks catalogue!
