Never knew that. Not sure where that profile stuff is at. To old to go looking for something I don't know how to use anyway.
bonedigger, that may be the answer. Don't tell anyone who you are, how to contact you, no email address, no real name. No more offers on any coins then for sure.

Ben, I find that situation absolutely appalling!

Since the purpose of forums is to share knowledge and learn from other collectors (at least in my opinion), to knowingly lowball a fellow member who is asking for information is simply unacceptable. As you said, it was a specialized forum. As such, I would expect the more knowledgeable members to willingly offer information to you. I am very glad that this has not happened to anyone here on CC.

If anyone here is ever contacted about selling a coin posted asking for info, please feel free to contact me. I doubt anyone here would try to take advantage of anyone else, but our forum is growing all of the time and I would like to prevent secenarios like that described by Bonedigger.

Just Carl, you had your email preference in your profile set to not allow forum members to send you email. I have changed it to allow emails.

Now, what if that person had said, That coin is unique or very rare. I would be willing to make an offer if you would consider selling it?

^^^ that in my mind is acceptable.

Agree, as the funny little man said in the Wizzard of Oz "Well... Now that's a horse of a different color."

But they didn't.
Rest in Peace

I'm pleased to join those who have stated they never had such an offer, and have had nothing but positive experiences.

With Coin Community Family members, I have traded coins and bought coins. All dealings have been done with complete trust, and in many cases I have related to my trading and buying partners that they were being too generous.

I don't belong to many other forums, and seldom check in on the ones I am registered with. However, I doubt that any of them would have members to match those good, honest, caring and decent people who make up CCF.

after re-reading this topic the only time I have ever been emailed asking about a coin at all that I had posted was once when I posted a picture of my new coin that was taking another ones place (upgraded of sorts) one had a little problem and wasn't happy with it in my 7070 album. This member asked if I was wanting to get rid of the coin it replaced and I knew this was a new collector and wanted to help them out so I just told them if they would send me their contact information I would send them the coin at no charge. This wasn't unacceptable to me for this new collector to ask to buy a coin that he knows I didn't really have a real use for since he thought he could use it himself and the problem didn't bother him (the problem was pretty minor)and I was happy to help a new collector all I could to keep them as interested in collecting all I could. I have to say I have had a few members here send me things just out of the goodness of their heart and no matter what I do I always remember them when I sit and look at my collection and remember how generous they were to me, someone they had never met or probably never would. Its the little things that you can do to help people that may make HUGE impressions on them
