I was in the coin shop I go to alot. We started talking and he knews that I see coin online once in a awhile and have done alright. He is a older dealer and doen't use the computer much and aksed if I would be interested in selling coin online for he to make a little extra money and help him out. So my question is do you guys think my best bet for doing this would be ebay even thought there prices have gotten so high to sell and list. here are some of my thought on how I might go about it. 1st would be to have someone help me startup a webpage. 2nd sell some here 3rd sell on ebayHe also asked me what my opion was on Craigslist. I told him I have never sold or bouhgt anything for there have looked around a few time. SO has anyone here ever bought or look at craigslist for coins or would that just be a waste of time. This dealer has great price on supplies and coins so I think it would be fun to sell for him but my fear would be not getting a far price for him. SO what other Idea do you guys have for he on were that best place to sell would be. I would be dealing with both low to mid-high range all Unslabed. of this post is in the wrong place please move it to the correct place.

While all the choices are great ideas, ebay is probably the way to go. ebay attracts a larger buying audience, even though the listing fees and selling fees have risen in the last few years. Your dealer would have a better chance selling his coins through ebay.

I agree with spider on ebay being your best bet, but I would also try the forums here before ebay because it's free and you never know.

I personally would NEVER use Craigs for coins or anything of true value. 95% of the time you go to someone's house to do the exchange and it's just not safe. BTW I'm gonna put my 5 foot wide 7-Eleven sign back on Craig's if anyone's interested.

I agree the boards and ebay are the best bet, as far as getting a fair price you can always set a reserve or just use BIN format, if his prices are fair then you shouldn't have much of a problem

How about this, if your dealer doesn't really care much of the potential extra profit that he can possibly have and doesn't mind you to list them in this forum here, everyone will gain to win except the bigger companies.

I've used Craigslist a number of times, and scored some nice stuff at great prices (some even free!), but I would NEVER buy a coin from there. There are just too many problems with Craigslist to make it even worth the attempt. If you put anything of value on Craigslist, you are asking for trouble.

I would appreciate the chance to bid on them here before you send them to ebay.

If you want to use Craigs List, Why don't you list the items for the dealer for a fee, and have the clients go directly to the dealers shop to see/and or buy. That way you are driving customers to the dealer, with out the risk of handling the coins themselves.
As far as E-Bay is concerned, you need to work out the details with the dealer, as far as returns policy, set up an account for the dealer, or use your account? who is going to handle the shipping? Etc.
Make sure the dealer understands the feedback system. If you are using your account, and he messes up, that will destroy your good feedback.

I think 7070 has a great idea as far as Craigslist goes. When I buy stuff from it I know that I have to drive. What difference does it make if it's to a home or coin shop? In fact, a storefront does sound safer and the dealings would seen less suspect. However, I am not sure how you would be compensated but I am sure that something could be worked out.

This is a can of worms, I wouldn't recommend opening. It's one thing to sell for yourself but selling for a coin shop that you aren't employed by; is trouble. Selling online is a business and must be treated that way. Online fees and the cost of your time (you weren't thinking of doing it for free, I hope) would negate any profit that would be made. There are also tax implications to consider. His and yours. I can understand you wanting to help the guy out but it could get out of hand and ruin what seems to be a nice relationship.

thank you guys for you feed back so far. Like andrew289 said in his post is onme of the reason I have not jumped on it. I don't wnat to ruin what we have going. plus there are alot of detail we have not taled about as far as what would be my commision on the sales, would all coin stay in the shop and I would take picture of the coins there and then list them on ebay or here. I don't know If he would be shipping of me. It was just a thing he thought out we I have to do some thinking and also talk to him about the details.

As Andrew289 said. You could be getting into something complicated. You never know what the government is checking via ebay or any on line deals. What you may want to do is suggest you teach this person how to use a computer, have the internet available in his shop, show him how to sell via ebay or whatever, have him join this and many other coin forums where selling is permitted. Then bow out. It's nice to help others but there has to be limit. What about his relatives? His friends and neighbors? Just curious, why you? I would think this over carefully. Not that he may be just using you, but ask lots of questions. At a local flea market there is a lady that used to fish many people in helping her unload her van. She used a sob story of being alone except for really sick husband she supports. Used this for years. Eventually many got tired of this after several years. She now has her sister, brother and a few other relatives there since no one will help now that they all found out those were just sitting home relaxing.
