What is the difference between an uncirculated American Eagle Coin (both silver and gold) and a bullion one? The uncirculated silver one sells for $43.59 whereas the bullion one sells for $1 above the price of silver.

So does that mean that purchasing the uncirculated version = purchasing an extra box for $15, or is there an inherent difference when it comes to the die? Or is it the West Point Mintmark that makes it collectible?

The bullion versions lack a mint mark, whereas the uncirculated version has one. Further, where the ASE's are concerned, starting in 2006, the blanks used to strike the uncirculated versions are burnished, rather than using the uncirculated finish (prior to 2006, the bullion and uncirculated versions were the same)

Plus the UNC version is minted one at a time, uniquely handled and boxed. Where as the bullion version is minted in bulk from a hopper and dumped back into a hopper after minting.

Which brings up the question, which is more valuable, a MS70 UNC , less 70's because of low mintage but special handling increases the odds of a MS70. The bullion version, more of a chance because of the ultra high mintage but less of a chance of a 70 because of the bulk handling.

To my way of thinking, the ASE was originally conceived as a bullion coin, and so it is better value for money as a bullion coin rather than as an NCLT high premium low mintage product.
With low mintage nicely packaged NCLT, it is much harder to recover the high premium in the numismatic after market, if you have to sell, perhaps even years later.

Philosophically speaking, you are a silver stasher or an NCLT collector.

Between 44 million and 220 thousand, I'm sure that the 44 million would have more MS 70s. Personally I feel that the MS 70 coins are only good if someone's trying to collect a date set of slabbed coins, otherwise it would be a waste of time looking for them.

NGC POP of MS70 2014 bullion ASE's is a tad over 143,000

PCGS POP of MS 70's is north of 118,000

Numbers are not final...
