I picked up a small group of Indian Princely States coins before Christmas and have now started to check them out. I spotted the Cochin 2 Puttuns and Tranvancore Chuckram when I bought them but the others I needed to research.

I now know the large coin is a Hyderabad Rupee but the other 2 have me stumped. The small coin dated 1300 weighs 0.7g so could be a 1/16 Rupee but not sure from where. The larger coin dated 1347 weighs 6.9g so could be an Iranian Kran but again I am not sure.

If some could assist or direct me to somewhere I can check these out that would be great.

The oddest thing about that coin is you will find tonnes of examples but they will all look different!! This is because the strike is so small, most of the design is excluded on the coin and you will only get some elements of the reverse/obverse. This will give the illusion that it is a completely different design but in fact may only be a piece of the original one.
Makes for confusing research! Nearly the worlds smallest coin as well with only 2 exceptions I beleieve.

Turnstone: the middle bottom one looks like a fanam I have from Cochin. Except that mine is gold and not silver. Hopefully that gives you a starting point.

UncleLuc: Not only are the flans smaller than the dies, but the dies were hand graved and used for a very long time. Add to that the fact that things were not really standardized in any way, and that to this day in the rural areas of Indian coins are still made the old fashioned way (even though the Indian mint is endlessly churning out coins for use). It makes an outsiders head spin.

The coin is a Kran from the 36 Nokhod standard - the date seems to be 1247, not 1347.

Thank you all for your replies and I pleased to see that my stabs at identification were not too far off (apart from being 100 years out on a date!).

Can anyone help with the mint name on the Iran Kran or where I find this on the coin?

The only puzzler left is bottom right, the possible 1/16th Rupee dated 1300.

Thanks again for your help.

Not really that much, only 100 lunar years.
Krause (1991 edition) shows an example of Mashad mint, yours seems to be from a different mint.
The newer version (google for "Kran AH1247 Iran" and it should come up) has several different examples.

Both the Rupee and 1/16 Rupee are from Hyderabad.
