Hello, I was wondering why the 1927 S quarter is so stagnant at the moment? 5 years ago you couldn't touch one on ebay for less than $45. Now they don't seem to go for much. I'm considering trying to accumulate a roll in g/vg but also remember reading something years back about 1927 quarters with an added S. Was that just in higher grades or did it also include lower grades? Also 1913 S dimes don't seem to go for as much as they used to. Thanks !

The stagnant economy we have seen since 2008 has and continues put a lot of strain on middle class collectors. Thus middle of the road collector coins have seen a rather soft market develop in the past few years where even key and semi-key dates in popular series are seeing price declines.

The top of the coin market is doing extremely but the rest is either treading water or seeing declines.

Even the top of the market has some holes - the recent Legend auction of Seated dimes proved that.

Buy when it's low. Good time to put together a roll.
