Empty-Fedex-Package-Sent-To-Lindenhurst,-Long-Island-NY
The following is a release from the Numismatic Crime Information Center

A FedEx package containing six coins was sent to a Lindenhurst, Long Island coin dealer . Upon arrival, the package had obviously been opened, the coins removed and the package resealed.

Missing Coins

1 - 1888S $20 Liberty PCGs 64+ (possibly finest known)
5 - 1991 $25 Gold Eagles NGC 69

Heritage has offered the same 1888-S in NGC 65 twice; if this coin is considered the finest known it may be that Heritage coin, crossed. That means Heritage has their usual high-res pics of it.

I'm really starting to have my suspicion about some Fed-ex employees.

that is annoying. this is the second time in a week that I have heard that about FedEx, they really need to tighten their security or screening process

I wonder if fedex was utilizing temp employees for the holidays? None the less this is sad...

I have also seen something very similar from fedex several years ago in a distribution center. iPods came in via fedex and there were 48 iPods 2 cases empty. Cases left iPods gone.
