A couple days ago, I stumbled across an article about the Henning Nickel. I admit, I had never heard of this counterfeit coin before. I have been roll searching nickels the past few years and have pulled 4-5 rolls of 1940's non-silver coins from circulation. While the odds seemed small, I decided to go through those rolls in the safe and I believe I have found a Henning! I want the experts on here to chime in but it looks like the real(fake) deal! lol Thank you in advance for your replies. Josh *** Moved by Staff to a more appropriate forum. ***

Grainy surface, no mint mark, hole in the 'R', sure looks like one to me! Nice find!

Do a browse to confirm the year, but it does look to be a Henning (there is a Henning site out there). Nice to go back through your lot and find a potential diamond in the rough! Good luck.

Looks good to me, but I'm not an expert.
This thread needs to be in Modern Errors and Varieties, I think.

It is probably worth more than you think, even though it is a counterfeit.

Finding a nickel - nickel in a silver year has to be a unique experience. Very cool!

Looks like the real deal. (As it were...)
One of the Classic Counterfeits, as I've called it elsewhere.
Congrats. :-)

if I recall, these weigh 5.5 grams, so you could check the weight too.
