Maybe the initials of the designer and engraver of the obverse.
Designer: Obverse: Dora de Pédery Hunt

If thats so , then where are the initials supposed to be? Because every other 2000 Celebration coin ive checked has no DH initials on it. I'm thinking ICCS made a mistake?

I have not noticed DH on any of the coins of that series. Those are my initials so maybe someone is missing me.

I checked a lot of my old effigy and see no DH for initials on the obverse, unless it is well hidden. Sorry didn't mean to lead you down the garden path, just a theory. Seeing lots of Missing DH as details on ebay usually on 2000 25 cents. Now I have to know. By the way stuffandcoins

The DH is on the left of the base of the bust.

I'm still missing the DH, can't find it for the life of me. Help penneyman007, show us a pic of where the DH would normally be. Thanks in advance. JakeyNice to see lots of new members, welcome to CCF.

My super macro camera is down, I'll try with a different camera or microscope. I have seen DHs in various stages. Back shortly..

I just went through a mixed roll of the 2000 and it must be a high point, its there but very warn on circulated coin. It is really hard to see, I missed it the first time I looked. I'm not looking at MS ones though.

YES! Thats true!! This is simply AMAZING sleuth work guys! Thank you soo much!! I just looked at the 1992 Confederation quarter series and the DH on the bust is quite tiny, clear, distinct and delicate. But on most of the quarters from the 2000 series the DH appears as mushy nubs. Of course my next question is ... just how rare is this occurrence?

A high point in an open area. All of mine looks like two blobs that got smashed, 1992, 1999, or 2000. I didn't check the rest (1990-2003, except those three years) yet. I think it's clearer in 1992 because the hub is still fresh compared to 2000. Take the example of the Lincoln Cent, the portrait gets mushier and mushier until 1968 before they cut a new one. I don't imagine this being very rare since it's just a tiny spot where grease can fill, but because of the fact that it gets worn off very quickly, we probably will never know.
