According to US mint, they sold 44 million American Silver Eagles in 2014. I remember they also sold about 43 million ASE in 2013.

That's a whopping 87 million coins in merely two years! Rumor says JM Morgan had accumulated 300 million ASEs in recent years. It is just hard to believe that they were all bought by us stackers.

Any thought?

ZERO for me. I can't justify the premium for ASEs over generic.

I've tried to buy five of everything they minted until the mint dropped the ball on the 95, and then the commenm issue a few years ago. Now I just get three of everything. The quality has suffered also, even the Proofs. Several of my ASEs in Proofs have the sun that looks like Jupiter after the comet collision.

Apparently, the U.S. Mint just passed the 400 million mark on American silver eagles made since 1986 and that 60 percent of them have been sold by the U.S. Mint in just the last seven years.

I agree with you but I couldn't figure what set I wanted to start with so I started with ASE set. So I have two from the above mentioned years.

I buy quite a few each year. Some for myself and a
lot for my father and a good friend.

Just a guess .. but pretty sure I purchased 300+ ASE's
this past year ... plus other dates ... picked up a
roll of 1995's today.

I plan on adding as many as I can this year .. to my
own stash.

I have one 2012, three 2013's (one of which serves as a current pocket piece), and three 2014's.

My daughter has a 2013 that I bought for her when she was born, so she has a silver dollar from her birth year. My in-laws also gave her a 2013 for Christmas last year.
