Since I have 3 piles of nickel dollars on my desk I decide that I will just keep the best one of each year/variety and trade or sell off the rest. There are a few that I can't decide on. I'll post them each year a thread to not confuse people. Tell me if the pics are too horrible, I'll try again tomorrow not under artificial lighting.

Which one is better?

Bottom one - compare the number and size of the hit marks on the effigy.

Since I left before it was bright and it was dark when I returned I guess better pics have to wait until tomorrow. For now I'll just turn them around in the light and see if I can decide.

Is the obverse more important in determining the grade of the coin?

New pics are up. I find low-relief coins tricky to photo unless it's nice and sunny outside (which is not today, and it looks like it's not going to clear up). Also had some issues recently on my iPhone making my photos pixellated

In the first set of pictures, #2. In the second pictures, #1. The marks around nose and eye on #2 are more obvious in the second pictures.
