No such year for Carolus IIII!

So it must be a counterfeit and most likely a contemporary specimen.

No idea about the price.

GNL# 1790-O:D/R:Mo FM-002

Maybe silver wash over a brass alloy ... if you are lucky?

Second confirmed specimen - other Nichols specimen.

$77.77 LOL

Yes - John a second copy of a previously unique GNL Class 1 coin. The fact it is over a yellow brass (if the color is accurate) is the reason I was even more interested in the coin.

I think the price is a bit low based on the actual results from the Stack's sale of the Ringo collection. There are no serious test cuts and the plate is nearly intact. Coin appears to have been made worn looking. The coin is a fantasy (which is a big positive) and of course the alloy is rather rare as well.

I was the high bidder as you might have suspected.

As you know I am trouble maker at times only because I am usually right and sometimes people get annoyed or as you have been saying for decades - the TRUTH sometimes does hurt the purse - anyway - the biggest hurdle is since they are such a young organization is to get the Mexican Numismatic Association to start thinking (i.e., there advanced collectors and the respective Association leaders) in this group that Type 1 or contemporary circulating counterfeits (in general) are a GOOD THING as association pieces to collect. It will take awhile as it did with EAC and C4 (decades - possibly). Without those organizations advanced contemporary counterfeit collectors do struggle with information and promoting this important historical sector of the hobby or of a particular series. Obviously these modern Chinese fakes do not help in this development making the learning curve more complex. At this point they are at the beginning of this development - which is annoyance, fear and apprehension. Keep showing them the way in Florida - one step at a time <VVBG>.
