Which do you prefer? I've subscribed to NN for years, but my subscription just ran out. I picked up an issue of Coin World at a local coin store, kind of similar to NN, I'm on the fence.

I guess we don't have any readers on this site? Oh well.

I used to subscribe to a numismatic magazine in Australia a long time ago over a period of about 15 years, until it was taken over. The magazine that took it over became the only one on the Australian market, and so doubled it's own subscription rates. I thought it was cynical that they should treat the collectors like this, and so I have never subscribed to a numismatic publication since.
I rather like both CW and NN, and so I occasionally buy backdated issues of both when I can get them cheaply, in multiple bulk lots. I cut out and retain the articles that have a high level of scholastic research, and so avoid the clutter of advertising that is no longer applicable.

I've been and on-and-off CW subscriber sine the 70's. Back then it was a 100+ page tabloid newspaper. I guess it's been fiscal reasons that it has shrunk so much. At least it's printed on nicer paper. Actually I'd probably let my subscription lapse if it weren't for the monthly edition that contains values (retail) for US coins. I've seen NN but it didn't appear to contain info that is of interest to me AND I can't get in CW.

I'm not a subscriber of any coin magazine, but I sometimes buy Coin World. tried NN but didn't like it at all. I often pick up Coins Magazine. They give you each coin's mintage as well as prices. Coin World is the best all around mag for u.s. and world coins and currency. but they don't give you mintage's. Tony

I've been a Numismatic News subscriber since 2006 when I sold myself a subscription in high school for a fundraiser.
Over the years, I've read a lot of interesting and informative articles. Last year there was a 6 issue series where an author shared the history of coinage in the US from 1776 to the founding of the mint in 1792.
I will say that I like the Coin World special issues, not sure how often those come out. I have one my dad bought in 2009 that covers the 1936 commemoratives.
Best of luck in your decision.

I subscribed to NN in my collecting heyday, which was the mid-1970s (I was in my teens). I think I got it for about five years or so. I even got a couple of letters published!

Does anyone remember the magazine "Coins" from the 80s and 90s?

I've always wanted to get either one. HOWEVER, where I live such things would stick out of the mail box. Anything visible sticking out of a mail box around here is just not smart.

I've always enjoyed " Coin World" more, usually because there are a lot more ads for coins and I enjoy looking through them.

I don't subscribe but I do pick up an occasional issue of CW just to keep up with info and read a good article or two.
