Any chance this 1887-S MS-65 Redfield Collection Morgan dollar makes a 64 or 65? I have been reading online that when the Redfield coins were slabbed, most were assigned a grade of either MS-60 or MS-65. Thus an MS-60 designation could be anywhere from 60-63 at today's standards, and a MS-65 could be 63-65.

NGC-graded trends show $300, $850, $2700 for MS 63, 64 and 65 respectively, so it is quite a significant price jump.

Thanks in advance for the help!

MS63, lots of chatter on the cheek and in the fields on the obverse. Never the less, great coin! I think these Redfield holders will go for a premium.

Real world it is a 63.

The red Redfield holder adds value. Do not bust it out of the current holder.
Rest in Peace

I agree with MS 63. There is too many marks to go any higher. As for the value, you cannot go off the price guide. Redfield coins, depending on the date and mint, go for significantly more than their average counterparts. Here is a quick search on ebay: http://www.ebay.com/sch/Coins-Paper...7+s+redfield
You can also look at the completed listings for an idea how much they have gone for.

It's a nice 63 Could go 64 on a great day, but I think that is unlikely. Zero shot at 65.

Just be careful when collecting these, After the success of the Redfield dollars, Paramount decided to take advantage and sell their own silver dollars in the exact same red Paramount holders, minus the Redfield name.
I have seen so many listing and high....... high bids for what people advertise as a Redfield dollar, just because it is in a red Paramount holder. If it does not say Redfield on the holder, it is NOT a Redfield dollar and should not command a premium as such.
