Interesting find, Northerncoins.
The point here, that the item is "genuine", as advertised on the holographic sticker. Means - penny coins aren't fake.
And the seller, as well as RSM, just exploits the idea, that people look on the package and do not see, that it just a roll.

So this guy thinks he can slap a fancy label and a cheap hologram on a roll of common pennies and charge a small fortune for them?! That's crazy. No way people will fall for such transparent marketing....oh wait. Isn't that exactly what the Mint did? (BTW, I have ten of the RCM 'special' rolls. )

Both did the same. just probably the RCM really packed the last million, which doesn't meter at all. P.S. Do you really have 10 of them? Mint limit was only 1.

Right, the pennies are "Genuine" but can he put that hologram on that roll and refer to RCM , I dont know, interesting indeed lol, as there are tons and tons of the "normal" rolls around. I mean whats stopping someone to make say 500 holograms stickers different from the RCM ones and number them from 1 to 500 and then say very low mintage "Insert any kind of name/label" or some such.

Bromberg (CC&C) did the same thing minus the hologram. Put a sticker on regular pennies and call them 'rare'. http://www.cdncoin.com/product-p/18400050.htmYes Silveroid, I have 10. One came from the Mint and the rest from dealers - some even at a small discount.

Amazing, this is the second type of "stickerized" penny rolls from CCC. The previous were with the dark blue sticker. I bought 2 of them (6.99 or 7.99 each one) and gifted to the friends outside of the Canada. I think, normal bank-wrapped penny rolls are good items to keep.

Quote:I remember CC&C had these and another special wrap on the websites a while back. here it is http://www.ebay.ca/itm/1-Roll-of-20...em1c4b2c969e I don't think CC&C are responsible for those special wrap rolls. Their FIRST version is in the link I posted above. The ones in your ebay link were/are sold out of the US. It's very interesting to see the SECOND version on the shopping channel website. I assume those are also CC&C since they supply TSC with their coins. It was bad enough they tried to fool people once, but to do it a second time with a hologram and packaging that is even more similar to the Mint issue is dubious at best IMO.

Silverdon , while that is true , how many are actually still out there is another matter and it depends on who can spin the best tale... Although they very well maybe right. Quote:Throughout early 2012, most collectors who sought examples of this final issue from the banking system or circulation were disappointed to find that the coins were almost impossible to obtain. The scarcity of this coin in circulation was reminiscent of the rare low mintage 1991 quarter (which now sells for about $500 per roll). The Royal Canadian Mint's records show nearly a billion coins "recycled" in 2012, and there is wide speculation that most 2012 cents were destroyed without ever entering circulation. Two Different Types of Coins Copper Plated Steel (Magnetic) and Copper Plated Zinc (Non-magnetic) To make this last issue even more interesting, two distinctly different types of coins were produced during the short production run. The first coins were produced using magnetic copper plated multiply steel blanks, while coins produced after this first run were struck using non-magnetic copper plated zinc blanks. While both varieties appear to be scarce, the copper plated steel coins have proved to be the most difficult to obtain. An analysis of 100,000 random cent coins from the banking system in the metro Toronto area done in November 2012 found only 18 coins dated 2012. Of these, 16 were non-magnetic copper plated zinc, and only two coins were copper plated steel. http://www.cdncoin.com/product-p/18400050.htm
