Hi everyone,

I'm a Canadian coin collector and so far I've been collecting mostly canadian coins. However, now I'm looking into buying a couple of MS Morgan dollars (nothing too fancy). I am looking for the cheapest Morgans you can find in MS. Could anyone guide me into how much i'd be paying based on recent trends. I have looked at a few price guides but I'm not sure if they reflect the sale prices. Also, if there are any particular dates that aren't rare that I could grab for cheap

EDIT would this considered a pretty nice UNC dollar: http://www.ebay.ca/itm/131401235300...RK:MEBIDX:IT

I would buy a slabbed one graded 63 and better but I am trying to avoid slabbed coins

Thank you!

There are a few differing Morgan dates which will be inexpensive in Mint State, and you should be able to find decent examples for $50 or less. 1921 will be by far the most common, but is of a different design than earlier Morgans. 1880 and 1881 San Francisco issues will probably offer the best grade for money of the older design, but many others will be reasonably priced as well.
Rest in Peace

A little tip from an American coin collector to a Canadian collector. don't bother with cheap, heavily bag marked, inferior dollars. (MS-60-62).
spend a little more money and buy something decent. MS-63-65 you'll
be glad you did. their not all that expensive.

Try a gold & silver buyer, they sometimes get some good quality coins, and they don't always care about numismatic value, as much as a coin dealer.

Thanks for the tips guys! Will definitely look into it before buying and I'll definitely pay the little extra to get a 63 or better

Get an 1881-S in either MS63 or MS64.
