I recently came across this coin at a shop here in L.A, and scooped it up. I later learned it was very rare, and quite a catch for a c-note! However now that I see that I am wondering if the experts would kindly weigh in on their thoughts about authenticity? Thanks! Hostilian Prieur 648

What makes you suspicious? Is it stamped "Made in China" on the rim?
The general type of this Tetradradrachm from Antiochia does have the highest price of any provincial coin for Hostilian in Sear (90 Pound, in 1982), so clearly a bargain for $100. When you say 'shop', a respectable coin dealer?
What is the weight? And how does the rim look like?
On first look I do not see anything suspicious.

The coin appears to be 100% legit, I checked several fake coin sites and no match found which is a good sign. Excellent buy at $100

Nice catch Caesar, I don't blame you for wanting it authenticated, I would too :)

From the photo the coin looks good. I don't think you have to worry about this one. I think its well worth the Benjamin. If your worried about it then go ahead and post the weight dimensions and edge photos, and we can all try and take a better look. OH, and check the fake sites for it.

Thanks everyone! I had looked as well, weight matches, no rim issues. I also checked out the fake coins report and found no matches. The dealer, knew little about Roman coins, acquired a dozen at an estate auction and just sold them off piecemeal. I did not think he would sell a fake, but he knew little about these coins as he deals mainly in gold and silver and picked up a dozen provincials for 50 bucks, sold each for $100 to different people. I looked at the other 11 and they all were worth under 75 bucks so I passed.
