I have a similar box of Canadian LC's, holed, polished, bent etc. The question is what to do with them? I sold many of the key dates as hole filler's but I could probably still put together "Canada's ugliest large cent collection" and someone would probably want it.

Holed coins deserve preservation as much as any other. Their stories are probably even more interesting than their whole peers. They have a small but extremely dedicated following, and I admire those people. Their outlook is similar to my love of 1921 Morgans.

When I spot a large cent with a square hole from a nail in a dealer's junk bin, I'm always tempted to grab it - the history is cool - but someone always beats me to it

Like I said, I "used" to buy every large cent group lot that I saw, but I no longer make any purchases with "holed" coins.

A. Gentlemen in my coin club has a holed large cent with teeth cut in the edge that was used to replace a missing gear in an old clock. You never no what some of these coins have been through!

To tell you the truth; I actually like your collection of holed large cents. something different for a change. the history behind them would be amassing . especially if they are really old.
