I am new to coin collecting. I just inherited a load of coins. Now I am reading about coin roll hunting and I must
say this sounds like something I would like to try. Can some of you hunters share some of your stories and tips?
Rest in Peace

Did you research the ones you inherited?
CRH is fun if you know what to look for. Do you have the basic, "Red Book?"
Good luck in your hunt.

The quickest and easiest thing to do is start reading through the other threads right here in the Coin Roll Hunting.

You will notice some "monster" threads for each denomination, like Half Dollar, Cents, Nickels, etc. They can take some time to read, but well worth it for the stories and tips your want to hear.

Of course, when you have specific questions, always feel free to ask them.

The most important thing to keep in mind is that this hobby requires very clear goals... otherwise you'll end up with a hoard of coins you don't know what to do with. And before you get your first batch, have clear plans on where you're going to dump or spend it--scope out a local bank with a free coin counter if at all possible.

As other members said, educate yourself on each denomination before your first hunt. You certainly don't want to toss out a 1992 Close AM cent, nor do you want to stack 1964 nickels, thinking you found somebody's dumped collection.

For a beginner, I would strongly recommend that you aim to complete a collection, starting with 1959-2008 memorial cents or 1938-2015 Jefferson nickels. Both of those are cheap, fun, available, and will cough up lots of interesting foreign coins and obsolete designs.
