There are other members here that are far better experts than I on Trade dollars, but based on my knowledge this is a fake. The rim is too wide

Hard to tell from your photos. Try taking a pic without the flash.

Looks like a counterfeit to me. Probably a Chinese one.

Looks fake, the notches on the rim don't look right.

Based on what I see in the overall "mushiness" of the coin I am leaning now towards the coin being a counterfeit.
Better pictures without a flash might help with the evaluation.
What is the weight and does it pass the magnet test?

Yeah, I'm pretty sure it's a fake. Still try the magnet test just in case.

Sadly, I must concur. It's most certainly a fake, but not a variety that's listed in The Black Cabinet.
As coin_kid and others have mentioned, passing a magnet over it will likely show it's a base-metal counterfeit.

Just the rim detailing on the obverse screams "Chinese fake" and a bad one at that. The Chi-Coms have gotten quite adept at faking coins, and they seem to focus on Trade dollars. I do believe that a few weeks ago we even saw one here slabbed in a excellent counterfeit PCGS slab! I'm not an expert like Steve, but this seems to be a feeble attempt.

oh well... it is a fake indeed... never thought of the idea testing the coin with a magnet :/ The coin sticks to my weak magnet.
