Hello again hope everyone had an eventful week. Yesterday after leaving Barnes and nobles with my new coin folder I received this penny as my change. Its a 1970 S but I'm not sure of the date size. Even after comparing it to a 1970 small date I came across Last year brought it to a coin expert and told me its a small date. As far as this one I cannot tell what this penny is. I'd appreciate any advise as too this cents date size.

Looks like a large date to me but then I'm still fairly new.

Yes large date. The loop of the 9 points to the bottom of the 7. Small dates, 9 points at the middle of the 7

No guessing on my behalf - that is absolutely a 1970-S large date cent.

Best of wishes for filling that new coin folder.

That's what I was leaning towards. Thank you all very much. This forum is amazing ever one is so helpful. At least I now have a 70 S small date and a large date. I was trying to post my small date but couldn't reduce the size enough to post. Thanks again.

Very blurred, but from what I can tell it looks like the small date.

I would need a closer pic. LIBERTY looks too sharp to be SD, but it wouldn't conclusively dismiss it either.

The Liberty on the #2 coin does look too strong.

I am fairly new so correct me if I am wrong. Another way to indicate a small date is if the numbers 970 are all in line at the top. You can see in the large date that the 7 is slightly lower than the 9 and the 0.

That is correct, but IMO it is the most difficult factor to determine. You can also examine the inside bend of the "7". On the large it is an acute angle, whereas on the small date it more rounded or smooth.
