I picked up a 1971-S Eisenhower dollar in original government cello with COA. What is everyone's thoughts of removing the coin from the Cello or leaving it in? Will it tarnish in this plastic? In other words should I leave it or move it to a flip, slab or something else? Thanks! Edited by srs77 01/20/2015 5:38 pm

All of mine were freed and put into the appropriate hole in my Dansco. If I were to acquire some duplicates I would probably free them as well. Not sure though. A good question that will certainly have varying opinions.

If it hasn't tarnished in the 40 odd years it has been in there, then I think you are ok on that front. It is simply personal preference. I have them both ways (for albums and original) because... well... because why not? I think they are neat.

I have both because both are good options. If you plan on getting more, then grab the Ike Dansco, cut that billy out, slap it in the Dansco and save the next one(s) in OGP.

Those old cellos were so cheap be glad it hasn't disintegrated and saved you the trouble of wondering what to do with it.

I would do one of two things:
1. Put it in a Dansco. 2. Put it in an Airtight, 2x2, or something similar.
Either way will offer it a lot more protection than the cello ever can.

Since I prefer to keep everything as it came from the mint I would just leave it as is and if I wanted one cracked out then I would get another without all the bells (OGP) and whistles (COA).

Protect it - with the cello - as a unit. You obviously got a good cello, and I strongly advocate clinging to whatever degree of originality still exists with anything like this. Not many will survive into the future because everybody cracks them.

I would probably agree. If the cellophane is in good shape, and you already filled that hole in your album, then keep it intact for now. Easy to change your mind later.
