The obsessive side of me is always wondering what to do with the unlabeled spots in my albums (such as the three spots on the last page of my wheat cents album). In modern sets I just continue the dates (ie 2010 onward at the end of my memorial cents album).

Just curious about you all

What I do is I take common, UNC examples of the series in question and place them reverse first. This also goes for holes where I've got the coin in a slab or the OGP and don't feel like removing it.

I tend to put in interesting or similar coins in the blank spots. (proof's, errors, nice condition stuff.)

I like to put the coins fro the series that do not have holes in the album such as pre s mint proofs, SMS, & satin finish coins. Fon the last page of my wheat page, I have the 56 - 58 proofs.

I like showing the reverse of the coin. The copper mint mark tokens from
uncirculated sets fit in cent holes and act as fillers. The older, large
plastic discs from mint sets, even though they don't fit exactly, can go
in some empty holes.

In the Ike dollar album, the early 1990s Ike commem dollars (proof and unc)
are a perfect fit. There is also a recent Generals commem dollar with Ike
on it, and that one in proof and unc will fill the 4 holes.

I filled two of my Ike holes with some of the Daniel Carr overstrikes - a 1970 and a 1975 Ike.

In my wheat album I have some of my older wheat cents,ex 1922, that I have doubles of to keep them safe until I figure out something else. Thought of putting a proof, a double die, and some other error in the holes but don't have any of them yet in my collection.

I put a Denver mint token, the reverse of a Denver mint token showing the Treasury seal, and a Philadelphia mint token in those last three slots for the wheat cents in my Lincoln Cent album. I'll take a picture and post it later this morning, when going in to get the album wouldn't wake the fiancée (and incur her wrath).

For my Lincoln album, I use mint tokens as others have indicated above.

I fill them with the coins that they are intended for. Isn't that what you are supposed to do?

ONE of the reasons I stay with Whitman. No empty slots. Never could figure out why Dansco can't figure out how many coins it takes to make an Album full. Some have lots of those. Whitman has none.

I will occasionally add a coin that is special to me. Could be a attractive tone, a low mintage year, a variety, or just one more really nice example. Can't say I do that all the time though, most remain empty. I have some Whitman albums and although they provide the exact number, I have found that they cover fewer varieties and I end up wishing for the extra spaces.

I fill the blank holes with different variations in common with the album.

With my Eisenhower Dansco album, there are 4 empty holes on the last page. I put in the proof and UNC of the 1990 Eisenhower commemoratives and the proof and UNC 2013 5 Star Generals silver coins. Some have placed the blue Eisenhower tokens in these empty holes.

I don't seem to have any problem with the extra holes.
And I have a lot of albums.

But if I do see something interesting to fill them with,
I have no problem with that too, what better way to use a
set of colorized westward journey nickels than at the end of a Indian head / Buffalo nickel page.
