I found three proof dimes in a junk silver box at my lcs. Just wondering how common that is. Unimpaired too. I was super excited apparently she cut a few 1962 proof sets and a 1963 set open. She didn't had a use for the dimes so threw them in the pot that morning.
How common is this and do they carry any premium over normal junk silver dimes?

Depends on grade. They must be worth more then spot price. John1

You were there and hand an opportunity to evaluate the grade/condition with the coins in hand ...
What did you see and how did you evaluate the coins?
Impossible for us to offer informed opinions on the coins without some technical input from you.
Likely that truly proof silver Roosies will carry a premium over junk silver.

I am very surprised that she did not put them in 2x2s and sell them for a premium as silver proofs. At my LCS, those would go for a few dollars above spot.

I say there was pr-65. No wear and luckily no surface damage on the mirror fields. They were on the top of the can so luckily they hadn't got damaged yet.
At first I thought they were like chrome platted normal dimes until I examined them and asked the owner. She explained that she cut open a few proof sets to get the halves graded that morning and just wasn't enough demand for the silver proof dimes in the shop.
I'm on a trip but will post pics of them tomorrow.

I found an impaired proof quarter once, but it was so dinged up it was only worth melt..
Other than that one time I've never seen proof coins in the junk bin.

It's common enough. I've found and bought several modern silver proofs from the "junk" bin. Not dimes, but I got a 2000-S and 2003-S Silver proof Kennedys a couple months ago for $16xface. I'd buy any and all silver proofs for junk prices.

It is pretty common for early 60's proof coins to be put into junk silver bins. Sometimes they will still be in the square of cello(after cut up)
I have picked up quite a few that way, over the years. I have about two rolls of proof dimes, the ones still in cello I just put into the 1 1/2 X 1 1/2 boxes I keep dimes in. Some of them, if they are real nice I will put them into holders. I think I could put a full roll of 1964's if I took them back out of holders.
Just saying .. that if you watch those junk boxes .. cherry pick the good coins... over years you can put some nice rolls away.
