Very cool thanks for getting back to us. Glad to see that it is authentic. Do you plan to keep it or sell it? Just curious.

This is an awesome outcome. Thank you for sharing the process with the Forum.

If your interest is liquidation, the coin should be consigned through one of the major numismatic auction houses. Frankly, this one has the chops to be in one of the "Signature" auctions associated with major coin shows and events. There is no reason to believe this coin won't fetch a 4-digit price at auction. The offset is huge, and double-struck Large Cents are sufficiently common to support a specialist community. This broadens your potential market of folks with pockets sufficiently deep to buy the coin.

Terrific story.

I wish my pockets were "sufficiently deep" enough to own something like this!

Couldn't agree more. I can easily see this coin going for $2-3K maybe more to the specialist. I mean, how many of these do you see every day plus it has the PCGS seal of approval

I only saw one similar later Large Cent with nearly similar offet, in an ANACS slab, and it went north of $4k. Too few with this much offset are known. Wouldn't be surprised if an audience reached for this one at a big sale.

I sent it to about 100 coin dealers..No one wants to give a price..They all recommend Fred though, so he's the man. He wrote to me and told me that he got a load of emails but wasn't interested. I guess I'll put it up on heritage. Thank you

I sold it to a private collector here locally for 3000 dollars. I had an offers ranging from 100 dollars to 3400 but I decided to sell it here in town..Thank you all for posting.

That is a very reasonable compromise. The new owner could conceivably make money on a flip (if that's his interest) but even if you left something on the table it wasn't much and chancy at that. I'd have taken that deal.

Nice price! I imagine it's not the last time this cent will be sold this year, though.
