This is a "woody" penny, as shown by the back. There is nothing wrong with it, but it is just that the metals in the coin didn't mix properly (or something like that, I am not an expert).

You're right Yoshi, the wood grain tone happens when the base metals don't mix properly and the different properties of the metal tone at different rates. You'll see this a lot on Indian Head cents too.

There is nothing wrong with this coin noD, actually, it's a very nice 'woody' looking like it may be an AU-50 may even be higher in hand.  If you don't want it you can send it to me I need an upgrade..

Looks good to me! These are tough to find with a full strike and in earlier die states....I'd call it the early part of a middle die state. Looking at the last 2 and the weakness in the D, the obverse die could have been the one that struck the infamous no D....who knows?
AU-55 but...
it might slide to MS-62. Look at PCGS photograde, tell me what you think?

Yea, the reverse looks good, could easily be MS, obverse weak strike, like BT said.

I would give an all around EF-48. don't really care for dark woody lincolns.
