They give you 2 of them!! I thought when the listing said 2 pcs, they meant including the ring, but it's 2 complete magnets. They are really strong, and only took 18 days from China w/tracking. Not bad for $2. http://www.ebay.com/itm/40075402247...RK:MEBIDX:IT

That I don't know. How can you tell? FWIW, they came stuck together magnet to magnet, and my 7 year old son couldn't pull them apart.

..or any credit cards, etc, with magnetic strips on the back. I should mention that the tracking number was pretty useless, no info on tracking ever showed up, but the package arrived fairly quickly IMO.

Keep them away from your cassettes and floppy disks too! (If anyone still uses them)

Quote: I should mention that the tracking number was pretty useless, no info on tracking ever showed up, but the package arrived fairly quickly IMO. There is a trick with the ChinaPost tracking numbers... e.g. LKxxxxxxxxxCN You can track the package within China on the ChinaPost site - that's the one ebay takes you to. But that data is infrequently (if ever) updated once the package leaves China... so it looks like it's sitting there somewhere forever until POOF, it apparates into to your mailbox. Sorry, no magic. Just a trick... Once it has reached the US and been entered into the USPS system, you have to flip over and track the same # on the USPS site:

Just got my magnets yesterday and you are right they are pretty strong. Should do well especially for detecting brass objects etc!

An inductive magnet test for silver/copper. The magnets need to move, say under a business card with coin on top. Move magnet, coin should move. A brass coin will not move the same This takes practice. This is not a does it stick test!
Key chain magnets may work if they have a high n#
If magnet can pick up a war nickle? that will do fine

I bought these too, but I don't think they are really strong enough to do a good inductive magnet test. For that test, I use a 2"x1"x1" neodymium iron boron magnet with a pull force of around 300 lbs or so. It is very dangerous, but very effective at ensuring my silver is silver.

I just received my pair. It took a little over a month, but I'm okay with that for free shipping.
