I'm wondering if the source for this abomination has been, or will be, identified.

I've located the distributor, but I am still tracking down the manufacturer.

What's the rage trigger? If that coin was counterfeit and it wasn't supposed to be, then I'd be mad but I don't see what's wrong with a counterfeit commemorative coin.

What coin is "supposed to be" counterfeit?

It's a counterfeit of a coin commemorating our disabled veterans (which I believe some of the proceeds go to veterans' organizations) that some mook saw and said, "Yeah. Let's counterfeit that."

I certainly understand the outrage, but on the other hand I think it's just about as disgusting as every other counterfeit.

Confused about where you're going here. A good bit of that justifiable rage ought to be directed at U.S. high level politicians who do NOTHING to address these escalating fakery issues. Guys like you and I can flail until our arms fall off and scream until our voices fail, but the volume of our collective distress is about as loud as sand sliding down the side of a dune. I fear the coin hobby as we have known and loved it is doomed.
