Rackster Pillar of the Community United States 4809 Posts	Posted 01/25/2015 5:36 pm Looks like RDV005 with a touch of zinc rot going by the initials. The USA also looks narrow, consistent with the RDV005. RDV006 has flatter/thicker letters and the G in FG has serifs. Report this Post to the Staff

My suggestion here is to post this in a new thread: 1989 RDV005? and get the others involved. The tricky thing about this transitional variety is that the initials are often weak and hard to make out. To confirm either way, I suggest some additional pictures: take a few of the initials with lighting at different angles, take a picture of the USA of your subject coin and a picture of USA from another 1989. Having side-by-side pics to compare will help confirm thin vs. thicker. The big guns will chime in and help to confirm/refute your find. Best of luck to you on this one! I flip tons of 1988 and 1989s (P and D) hoping to find a transitional coin: nada so far. Report this Post to the Staff
