I saw this 1865 Indian Head cent with all the lettering on the obverse doubled.

Is this an example of "Longacre Doubling" that I've read about?

I see what you are talking about, but could you take up close photos of the letters? Thanks!

This is Longacre doubling on one of my Proof Indians. You can see how it completely surrounds the lettering instead of being offset to one side or the other as regular doubling would be.

The coin's not mine, so that's the best photo I can share.

I saw it on ebay and starting researching it. I couldn't find an 1865 listed with this type of doubling. Then I ran across an article on Longacre Doubling and that seemed to be the best answer.

Yes, your findings are correct Paul. Longacre doubling.

After looking into this coin I decided to order a copy of Rick Snow's book on Flying Eagles and Indian Head cents. That should give me a good education.
