After just purchasing a fake 1893-S Morgan that can be seen in a recent discussion on here; I think I learned my lesson to only buy top tier slabbed key date coins. I came across this ebay seller and from what I learned in the past discussion, has lead me to believe this is 100% counterfeit. The date looks way off to me. What are your thoughts on this coin? When buying non-slabbed key dates, what is the best and true method? Thanks for any input and opinions, everyone on here is great..

I notice the seller only has one picture of the date, and not even a good photo of it. Going by the wonky date too, I say fake.

Buy only in a reputable TPG slab from a reputable dealer/seller.

He is selling a huge key in the Morgan series and those are the best pictures he can provide plus, the coin is raw.
Two of many reasons to run..fast.

" wonky date "

That adjective says it all!
A bad picture of the year, just one, is reason to run.

This listing was ended by the seller because there was an error in the listing.

That was fast just saved someone big $$$$.

I have a funny feeling if I put that phrase "an error in the listing" through a BS-to-English translator, we all know what the result would be. :-)

I wouldn't buy a common date Morgan with the pictures initially posted.

However, that final picture removes all doubt. That's an ugly date.

Poor photos for a coin like that + ugly date = pass.

That would be a no-brainer for me.

A monster like that would have to be slabbed.

I sent the seller an email stating that his coin was counterfeit and needed to be canceled. The seller stated he would end it and "have it looked at". Shame that so many fake coins are on the market.
