I'm beginning to take a fancy to this denomination, especially those issued for use in the dominions and colonies. It'd be very challenging to assemble a really complete collection, I think.

This specimen is spotted with tarnish, but appears to have only nominal wear at worst.

I like three pence coins too! Southern Rhodesia being my favorite!

New Zealand and Southern Rhodesia are the nicest designs of the Empire threepenny pieces, I believe.

You won't go wrong building a collection of XF-AU or UNC examples, the cost per coin will be very reasonable, as opposed to an UNC US Dime of the same year, say, as long as you restrict yourself to George VI or QEII issues in silver. If you want to add types for the earlier monarchs, that could get a bit costly.

Lots of mints to differentiate with, too. Some of the African colonies issued these in brass or nickel alloys, and some early issues in silver are still reasonably priced.

The pictures are a bit blurry but the coin looks very nice.

From what I can see it looks like a AU-55 / 58
