There were very few details in that link.
Are they saying the SLAB is counterfeit too, or the coin
was counterfeit and PCGS graded it as genuine? One of my
LCS has a counterfeit 1877 IHC displayed on their wall,
and it was sent to PCGS and came back in a graded slab!
So, the TPGs miss counterfeit coins just as their slabs
are counterfeited... Just a heads up.
Rest in Peace

If the slab is fake most likely the coin is fake as well.

Well, I understand that either the slab and/or the coin could be fake,
however, I didn't see where the link explained exactly which one (or
if both) was fake. Now, the way I look at it, is that the coin is fake
no matter what. Either the coin is fake, and it was slabbed as real, OR
the coin is fake, and is carried to the next level by being placed in a
fake slab, which then, in the eyes of many unquestioning sheep, gives
the coin legitimacy. Some people see the slab, and feel so warm and fuzzy
about it, that they don't even have a second thought that the coin might
be fake, much less the cheap plastic that it is wrapped in. Blind allegiance.

Conder has it right IMO. There is no reason to believe the coin is real. Why fake
slab a genuine key date? It makes no sense. If you wanted to over-grade a key
date & increase it's value, then it's safer, & legal, to start a 'basement' TPG.

I need to make things a bit clearer with how the classification system works. The Black Cabinet keeps track of fakes slabs and fake coins separately and when the type of fake coin inside a fake slab can be determined or already has a profile of its own it's listed under the "Coin ID" field. (I need to add in some clickable question marks or something that say what each field means.)
