Well, I understand that either the slab and/or the coin could be fake,
however, I didn't see where the link explained exactly which one (or
if both) was fake. Now, the way I look at it, is that the coin is fake
no matter what. Either the coin is fake, and it was slabbed as real, OR
the coin is fake, and is carried to the next level by being placed in a
fake slab, which then, in the eyes of many unquestioning sheep, gives
the coin legitimacy. Some people see the slab, and feel so warm and fuzzy
about it, that they don't even have a second thought that the coin might
be fake, much less the cheap plastic that it is wrapped in. Blind allegiance.
Conder has it right IMO. There is no reason to believe the coin is real. Why fake
slab a genuine key date? It makes no sense. If you wanted to over-grade a key
date & increase it's value, then it's safer, & legal, to start a 'basement'
TPG.
