I picked up this set on ebay for no reason other than it being a good price and it looked interesting. The set contains all circulation strikes from 1964-2001 minus the 70d & 87p&d. Each panel also includes a stamp which I know nothing about. Does anyone have any info on the issue price / distribution method?

The 1983P is a very late die state, too bad.

Postal Commemorative Society is about the same as the mail order coin companies
that sell the over-priced, often whizzed, coin sets in fancy boxes, to those who
don't know that coins cleaned with brillo pads are NOT an investment. Maybe one
step above, as the coins pictured here are actually fairly nice. But then who
NEEDS to polish a JFK half to find a nice one dirt cheap?

The stamps, the ones that aren't cancelled, are worth face value.
LoL... I just realized that if you pulled every uncancelled stamp
out of this display, you might be able to send one envelope.

If I recall, this set was something like $29 a month, and they send
you the binder the first month, and then one page for each month after
until you either stop sending them money, or you get the last page. It
may have been more than 29, but it wasn't less, that's for sure.

The 82-83 issues are the best thing about this set.
It wouldn't bother me to tear this set apart just to get at those.

Thanks ratio. I actually bought the set for the 82 & 83 coins plus the silvers. I got the coins for a slight premium over face / melt so I don't mind cutting it up to put the final 4 coins in my Dansco. I don't collect stamps, but I may keep these since they are pretty cool looking, just need yo come up with some way to store / display them.

I actually LIKE these cheezy coin and/or stamp displays. The 2 worst parts
about these are 1: Over-priced, and 2: Nice displays with horribly defaced
(by cleaning/polishing) coins...

Well, you have avoided both of these problems. You let someone else take the
financial raping, and being JFK halves, which are much easier than most coins
to find cheaply in a condition that doesn't need polishing to look pretty to
unknowledgeable consumers. You Sir, are left with a nice display and although
common, very nice looking coins/stamps. I am beginning to think you might be
better in the long run to keep that whole thing "as-is".

Do the coins come out easily? If so, you could fill your Dansco with the few
you need, and keep the rest of the display intact, maybe to refill it one day.

I have kept some of these sets in the past, taken out the whizzed coins,
and used the displays after I refilled them with decent coins. The hard
part is getting the displays cheap. Most people have paid a small fortune
for them, and don't like hearing what the coins are really worth.

A set VERY similar to yours (I bet the same one) sold for $118 ($102 +$16 shipping) in August of 2013...

Nice set. I am certain the original owner overpaid, but seems like you got a decent deal.

I used to collect stamps, too. Sets like these are interesting for those who like both, but luckily my knowledge on price and quality prevented me from buying anything like this as an original owner.

I somewhat like them enough to conceivably pick one up at the right price as you did.

I like these as well. They are interesting to look through, but I wouldn't want to pay too much for it. I believe I have seen a Morgan dollar set like this before too, but maybe it was an Ike album. I don't remember for sure.

Without a doubt. They roped in my mother in law for State Quarters and we didn't notice until the first year of ATB. Over $1,000 by then.

The more I look at this set, the more I like it. (Knowing someone got it for a fair price!)
