Hey Guys, could you take a look at this and tell me what you think.

Finger Damage? planchette error?

Just seems odd and I haven't run across anything like it before.

2.51g

No other damage.

Thanks.

Might be. It doesn't show up on the devices, does it?

No, not on top.

It almost looks like there is no 'flow' lines. just a blank.

If you can make out from the pictures. it looks smooth, not 'frosted' I guess. Not sure how to describe it.

I agree. Feeder Finger Damage. Maybe grease on the die or in the lines of the damage left the coin dark colored.

ok, what about the 'smoothness' ?

almost looks as if there was not enough psi during the strike except that the devices seem fine. Weight is good, Obv seems fine. But no 'texture' under/around the devices.

Coop, the 'dark' colored area is actually more mirror like, polished even. As if the die never touched the planchete in those areas?

?

I've seen this on polished die examples. It is sometimes very shiny. Almost looking like a proof coin in those areas. The fields were only affected as the outside of the die is the fields. So that is whey it disappears behind the devices.

Is Finger damage on my 1962 roosie also? I don't think die gouges exist on modern coins like this? A mix of raised and flattish lines.
