I know that it must be from Turkey, and the symbol on the obverse indicates it is from the Abdulmecid era (1839 - 1860), but I can't find it on OttomanCoins.com or in the KM catalog, or tell what denomination it is, or what date... http://i243.photobucket.com/albums/.../Unknown.png Report this Post to the Staff

pverp New Member Netherlands 6 Posts	Posted 09/28/2007 06:39 am Yes! You're right, it's Hyderabad. How strange that they're using the exact same toughra as Turkey. The coin is 31.3mm in diameter, so I've narrowed it down to KM#36 1/2 Anna (1324-1329AH) or KM#47 1/2 Anna (1332-1348AH). The first one is copper, the second one bronze, and unfortunately I can't tell the difference between copper and bronze. Does anyone know what the date is? Report this Post to the Staff
Sap Moderator Australia 16845 Posts	Posted 09/28/2007 11:14 am The date is the four figures above the bottom stroke of the toughra; these are Hyderabad numerals, slightly different to regular Arabic ones; these numerals are included in the table printed in the Krause catalogue.
