Hi, I'm new to this so if I have posted in the wrong place I apologise. I acquired an old VOC coin on a recent diving trip to the Spice Islands in Indonesia. From the information I have been able to gather, which is very little, it appears to be a ducatoon from 1739 more than likely minted in West Friesland. On the front of the coin there are two lions holding a coat of arms above the VOC stamp and on the back there appears to be a knight holding a sword riding a horse and below that there is a lion inside a crowned shield. I was wondering if anyone knew any more about these or of a site that may contain more information on these coins and their approx value. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks, Scott.

If I am not mistaken, those coins were issued while Indonesia was under the Dutch rule.

The VOC stamp stands for Vereenigde Oost-Indische Compagnie or Dutch East Indies Company.

Here is a site that has a catalog of them. I hope it helps you out
