Hello! Today while CRH I found a 2012 LSC with most of the copper worn off. How does this even happen?! Why would someone do this to a coin?! was it suck in a machine?! Can someone tell me what happend, if they know? Thanks!

To me, it looks like something some kid would do in highschool when he's bored in class and wanted to see if he could make the coin look "cool" or artistic...? I don't think anyone can answer why for sure though.

It might have been left in the road on asphalt or something and run over a few hundred times.

I found a coin like that once in a store, I'm guessing that it got sucked under the floor buffer. I've also seen coins that were polished up with a buffing wheel that looked like that.

Judging from the fine lines, I'll agree with Night Hawk. It got buffed to death.

There's no way to ever know for certain -- unless you have a commercial floor buffer and some extra change....
