Eight Reales With Counterstamp- Opinions?

Pistareen Valued Member United States 309 Posts	Posted 02/15/2015 10:55 pm Here is a 1753 Potosi eight reales cob, assayer "q" with "MR" counterstamp attributed to Mozambique in 1767, a Portuguese colony on the east coast of Africa. We have been discussing about those resellos in my Facebook group - many came to the market lately - and I couldn't get any conclusion from all the contributors there . swamperbob Pillar of the Community United States 5362 Posts	Posted 02/16/2015 7:10 pm Stamps like this can be real, but when the host coin itself is of low or limited value and rises astronomically because of the stamp alone - I get VERY suspicious. There are none of the obvious signs of a modern forgery, but the stamp is really a very simple one to make. I have no opinion but I advise great caution. Report this Post to the Staff
