In the meantime, can we get a new smiley? By the way, did you find any with this kind of split A in your PLs SPP?

Is it snowing hard there? They've plowed the roads and sidewalks here and it hasn't snowed a lot since. I am currently stuck in my room since nine or ten because there's a mob of noisy drunk people in the hallway and I do NOT want to walk past them At this point, blowing them up sound fun, since they do not know how not to be seen (and heard)... (Thank you, Monty Python)

I checked my 1970 PL coins, I don't have this feature... I did find this interesting feature on a 1970 specimen strike...

That one's interesting, I have no idea what it is but it looks like it was struck four times to me. Is it? Was it photographed using the microscope you showed in the thread?
I'll keep an eye out for this split A the next time I go to a coin show. Which is likely to be March 7.

Quote: Was it photographed using the microscope you showed in the thread? Nope - just a cheap USB microscope in my basement. The white LED lighting is great for older coins, but produces too much glare for specimen and proof-like mirror surfaces...

Glare is a problem when photographing these coins, especially when there's no cameo since there's just so much light getting reflected. The full size pics of the full coin shots are very blurry and looks sub-standard compared to most of my other shots. Now that I mention cameo, where did I put that proof 1987? By the way, what happens to a discovery coin? It gets sent to a TPG and they will write "discovery coin"?
